EC&I Project Engineer - COMAH / Chemical Plant - Manchester - £65,000 - £75,000\n \n About the Company\n \n Our client is a global chemical manufacturer in the Manchester area who is looking to add an EC&I Project Engineer to their Engineering team. This is a hands-on and varied role that combines engineering design, maintenance, safety management, and project delivery, with opportunities to contribute to plant-wide improvement initiatives.\n \n EC&I Project Engineer - Responsibilities \n \nLead and develop EC&I standards (ATEX, DSEAR, SIL, functional safety) in line with legal and industry requirements. \nManage and deliver projects from concept to commissioning, ensuring on-time, on-budget execution.
\nProvide technical leadership for troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and reliability improvements. \nEnsure regulatory compliance with COMAH, IEC 61508/61511, and other safety-critical standards. \nAct as the go-to authority for control systems (PLC, DCS, SIS, instrumentation) across the site.
\n Mentor colleagues, manage contractors, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to deliver safe and efficient outcomes. \n Support the Engineering Manager with budget planning and cost control (projects up to £150k). EC&I Project Engineer - Responsibilities \n \nA degree in Electrical, Control & Instrumentation Engineering (or related field).
\n5-10 years' experience in EC&I engineering within high-hazard chemical, petrochemical, or similar heavy industry. \nStrong knowledge of PLC/DCS systems, instrumentation calibration, loop checking, and functional safety. \nWorking knowledge of ATEX, DSEAR, COMAH, SIL and hazard studies (HAZOP, LOPA).
