If you’re passionate about keeping operations running smoothly and have experience in FMCG, this could be the perfect opportunity for you!Role overviewAs a Skilled Shift Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in maintaining and improving Reach’s print production. You’ll be responsible for preventative maintenance, structured problem-solving, and developing standard operating procedures to enhance equipment performance. This is a shift-based role, covering 2 days, 2 nights, then 4 days off.You’ll work with a dynamic team, tackling breakdowns, supporting operators with low-level engineering tasks, and developing SOPs to improve equipment performance. Your work will directly impact the reliability and efficiency of our print production, ensuring newspapers reach millions of people.Your day-to-day involves keeping the site running safely and efficiently. You’ll be responsible for conducting preventative maintenance, responding to breakdowns, and delivering continuous improvements.You’ll collaborate with operators and other teams to ensure safety compliance while working with the latest technology and engineering systems. Whether it’s troubleshooting, developing SOPs, or supporting production activities, you’ll be at the heart of operations.What you’ll need to succeedYou’ll need a Level 3 (NVQ) Electrical Engineering qualification or time-served apprenticeship experience. Background in FMCG or manufacturing environments will help you handle the fast-paced nature of the role.A flexible, proactive mindset is essential, as is the ability to multitask under pressure. Strong IT skills will be helpful, as you’ll use CMMS systems, MS Word, and Excel to report, track, and manage engineering tasks.
