The role will include working closely and developing strong relationships with both internal clients and external partners.
You will provide Engineering support including design and technical engineering advice to all areas of UU.
The main areas are likely to be the capital programme, operational engineering support and studies & investigations.
Your first deployment will be within the Cheshire Wastewater team supporting the County Engineering Manager to provide engineering support to the operational teams.
This placement will require visits to sites located within Cheshire.
You will be responsible for the delivery of a range of projects, studies and investigations throughout United Utilities including data gathering and analysis, design, preparation of documents, drawings and specifications, review of proposals by others and providing advice and responses to other team members.

In-person site attendance in Lingley Mere, Warrington, (or operational sites when on a deployed placement), is required three days per week to promote the benefits of face-to-face collaboration, alongside flexible hours to support work-life balance.
Initially, you may be expected to attend more frequently to familiarise yourselves with the site, the team, and your role.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities Plan Mechanical engineering work to deliver outputs to meet agreed milestones and within budget for a number of complex projects.
Produce appropriate design documents to meet United Utilities’ objectives.
Support for United Utilities operational staff (ADT) in optimizing site production, efficiency, resilience and compliance.
Demonstrate personal and professional management attributes and qualities commensurate with professional Chartered Status.
Communicate, to both technical and non-technical audiences, concepts and ideas regarding the application of particular designs.
Use of safety techniques and procedures used in planning, design and supervision of projects in the construction, commissioning and performance review phases.
Input to the development of the United Utilities’ Engineering Standards, systems and procedures and provision of project & site specific engineering design expertise.
Maintain and develop Mechanical engineering expertise both personally and for the team.
Ensuring that all activities undertaken, and engineering outputs provided are in accordance with all applicable legislation, accepted best practice, and relevant internal/external standards.
Ensure that all Mechanical engineering outputs provided are in accordance with an appropriate Quality Management System e.g.
checked and verified: calculations, drawings, specifications, and compliance with United Utilities’ Company Standards.
Support development of engineering standards and standard products to support the current programme.
Annual targets set & achieved on time E.g.
Capitalisation, OPEX avoidance, manhour estimations, project deliverables.
Technical Skills & Experience To be successful with your application, you’ll need to show that you meet the following essential criteria Degree qualified Mechanical Engineer with relevant postgraduate experience /HND in Mechanical Engineering.
