Field Service Engineer\nLocation: Midlands, UK (Field-Based)\nReports to: Service Manager\nCompany: Forel UK and Ireland Ltd\nOverview: Forel UK and Ireland Ltd is seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled Field Service Engineer to join our expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong engineering background to work with cutting-edge glass processing machinery across the UK, Ireland, and overseas.\nAs a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of advanced machinery primarily used within the Glass and Processing markets. This hands-on role offers a dynamic work environment, combining mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, and will require travel to customer sites both locally and internationally.\nField Service Engineer Primary Responsibilities & Duties\n * Install, commission, and service Forel glass machinery at customer sites across the UK, Ireland, and overseas.\n * Perform scheduled and emergency maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs of machinery to minimise customer downtime.\n * Interpret and work from electrical wiring, pneumatic, and hydraulic diagrams.\n * Troubleshoot and resolve faults on complex PLC and servo-controlled systems.\n * Deliver professional customer support and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.\n * Provide technical assistance and training to customers and colleagues as required.\n * Liaise with sister companies in Italy, Germany, and the USA to ensure service consistency and efficiency.\n * Complete service documentation accurately and submit timely reports.\n * Maintain company-provided equipment, vehicle, and tools in good working order.\n * Represent the company in a professional manner at all times.\nField Service Engineer Key Requirements\nWe’re looking for someone who meets some or all of the following criteria:\n * HNC/HND or equivalent in an engineering discipline (electrical, mechanical, or mechatronics )\n * Proven experience with multi-skilled engineering (electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems)\n * Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities\n * Familiarity with PLC and servo-controlled systems\n * Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a customer-focused approach\n * Ability to read and interpret complex technical diagrams\n * A proactive “can-do” attitude with a willingness to work independently or as part of a team\n * Flexibility to travel regularly, including staying away from home and overseas trips\n * Full UK clean driving license is essential\n * Knowledge of the Italian is advantageous but not essential\nWhat We Offer\nForel UK and Ireland Ltd is committed to supporting our team and offers an excellent package that includes:\n * Competitive salary (commensurate with experience)\n * Company car for business and personal use\n * Bupa healthcare plan\n * 23 days annual leave, plus paid bank holidays\n * Company pension scheme\n * Company-provided mobile phone\n * Full in-house and external training and development opportunities\n * The chance to work with a globally respected brand and cutting-edge technology\nAbout Forel UK and Ireland Ltd\nForel UK and Ireland Ltd is part of the globally recognised Forel Group, specialising in the manufacturing and servicing of high-end glass processing machinery.
