Job Description
Field Service Engineer
A leading provider of advanced on-site energy solutions is expanding its field service team to support a growing portfolio of high-efficiency gas-fired Combined Heat and Power (CHP) systems. As part of a new long-term service agreement involving multiple Jenbacher 6 Series engines, the organisation is seeking an experienced and skilled Field Service Engineer to strengthen regional coverage and deliver enhanced technical support for key industrial sites.
This is a pivotal hire, intended to replace outgoing resource capacity and ensure rapid response and expert resolution during high-priority maintenance events and system breakdowns.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance on Jenbacher CHP systems and associated equipment to ensure system reliability and performance.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and control-related faults during scheduled visits and reactive call-outs.
- Provide field-based support for commissioning and advanced troubleshooting on complex engine issues.
- Deliver strong technical support and build trust with on-site operators and facilities teams through clear communication and high service standards.
- Carry out system diagnostics, gas analysis, combustion tuning, and electrical inspections using industry-standard tools and procedures.
- Complete service documentation, job reports, timesheets, and inventory logs accurately using internal systems.
- Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols and site-specific safety procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Hands-on experience working on Jenbacher 6 Series gas engines, with both mechanical and electrical responsibilities.
- Knowledge and field experience with Jenbacher XT3 and XT4 control systems.
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Valid Gas Safe certification.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Excellent fault-finding skills and experience with combustion analysis and performance optimisation.
What’s on Offer
- Competitive salary, based on experience and qualifications.
- Fully equipped service van, tools, fuel card, laptop, and phone.
- Paid overtime, on-call rota allowance, and performance incentives.
- Generous holiday entitlement and contributory pension scheme.
- Ongoing professional development, including manufacturer training.
- Clear career path with opportunities for progression into senior technical, commissioning, or leadership roles.
Apply Now This is a key opportunity to join a forward-thinking engineering team delivering critical energy solutions to industrial clients. If you’re an experienced CHP field engineer with a strong Jenbacher background and a proactive, hands-on approach, we’d like to hear from you.
