What you will be doing

• Interns make a significant contribution to Flight Physics. You will be given responsibility and ownership of your tasks during your internship, doing real and challenging work within your team.
• This internship is for a Junior Data Science Engineer and will consist of a main project focused on data analytics and visualization of Flight Physics data, with additional shorter tasks to give exposure to other subjects.
• On your main project you will support the development of frameworks for visualization (based on a three-tier web app architecture) that enable Engineers to produce customizable visualizations using static and dynamic data.
• You will contribute to innovation projects by applying modern data analytics and machine learning algorithms to analyze Flight Physics data sets, focusing on visualizations that support strategic transformations.

Requirements

• Open to Undergraduates only; candidates must be an undergraduate for the whole duration of the placement. Please inform your graduation date on your application.
• Application should include a CV along with a Cover Letter outlining motivation and suitability for the role.
• An undergraduate student studying for at least two years in Computer Science, Data Science, Physics, Engineering, or a similar technical subject.
• Some experience with software development or coding.
• Curious mindset with the desire to learn and build understanding.
• Ability to manage problems and communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
• Proactive, self-motivated, and focused on personal development.
• Creativity and desire to innovate and develop new capabilities.
• Prior knowledge of Python, Dash & Plotly, React, or Typescript would be advantageous but is not required.

Security and Compliance

• You will be subject to a BPSS check. Depending on the role, UK SC-level Security Clearance or Export Control may be required.

Join the Airbus Flight Physics team, responsible for aircraft design activities across all development stages, including pre-design work to in-service support. The team works on programmes such as the A350XWB and A320neo, and is involved in Research & Technology, capability development, and data science. The Flight Physics function in the UK comprises four departments: Aerodynamics, Loads and Aeroelastics, Mass Properties, and Flight Physics Capability & Strategy. The Capabilities and Strategy team develops tools and capabilities used by Flight Physics and explores applying Design Space Exploration, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics to the business.
