About Amber

Amber is an entirely new way of thinking about buying, banking and selling energy where home energy technology works to put money back in customers’ pockets and accelerate the renewable energy transition. We are growing rapidly and have thousands of customers who love what we are doing and a great product that will play a significant role in driving the world towards a renewable future. Amber is disrupting a large market in Europe and you would be part of a rapidly growing team across energy, technology, marketing, and operations. Amber for Batteries unlocks more value for homeowners with batteries by storing energy when it is cheap and exporting to the grid at wholesale feed-in rates.

Amber for EVs is our EV smart charging solution that helps EV owners save on charging costs by using more cheap, renewable energy. In 2025, development of vehicle-to-grid technology will begin.

About the role

We are currently hiring for a Full Stack Software Engineer. Amber provides a great opportunity to apply your skills to help enable the uptake of renewable energy. Our technology optimises thousands of batteries and other devices in customers’ homes, enabling them to time their usage to consume power when renewable penetration is high and prices are cheap, and then export power back to the grid at critical times.

The Amber Electric product team develops and supports:

  • Home automation integrations with batteries, hot water systems and pool pumps, with EVs coming soon
  • Mobile & Web apps for customers to monitor and manage their energy usage
  • A pricing and billing engine for real time energy pricing

The tech stack is React Native mobile app, React web frontends, and a Serverless Lambda backend on AWS. We use Typescript top to bottom, with Apollo GraphQL in the middle. Data is stored in DynamoDB, Postgres, and Snowflake as appropriate.
