Functional Safety Engineer (Contract - Outside IR35)

Location: Warwickshire

Rate: Open to discussion

We are looking for an experienced Functional Safety Engineer to support a confidential engineering project on a contract basis. This role is outside IR35 and offers flexibility on rate for the right individual.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support functional safety activities across the full development lifecycle
• Conduct hazard analysis, risk assessment, FMEA, and FTA
• Define and manage safety requirements and traceability
• Work with cross-functional teams to embed safety into hardware, software, and systems design
• Support testing, validation, and preparation of safety cases

Qualifications

• Proven experience in functional safety engineering within an OEM, Tier 1, or complex systems environment
• Strong knowledge of ISO 26262, IEC 61508, or similar safety standards
• Hands-on experience with safety analysis methods and tools
• Confident communicator, able to work effectively with design, systems, and validation teams
