Overview

Geotechnical Engineer position based in Reading. Salary: £30,000 - £40,000. Vacancy type: Permanent. Job reference: CAS0025.

Key Responsibilities

• Site-Based Sampling & Assessment: Attend sites nationwide to carry out soil and waste sampling using approved techniques; conduct visual and olfactory assessments of materials, accurately recording observations; take clear photographs for inclusion in reports; confirm sampling locations in consultation with clients and the internal Technical Team; comply with health, safety, and environmental guidelines during site work.
• Communication & Coordination: Liaise with site personnel to plan and carry out fieldwork efficiently; maintain regular contact with office-based colleagues to coordinate logistics and ensure accurate data handling; represent the company professionally on-site when interacting with clients and contractors.
• Documentation & Reporting: Accurately log sampling details, including site conditions, sampling methods, and supporting photographic evidence; provide comprehensive field data to the Technical Team to support waste classification and technical reporting processes.

Requirements

• Previous experience in a geoenvironmental, geotechnical, or related site-based engineering role
• Full UK driving licence
• Eligible to drive a company vehicle (must be 21+ due to insurance requirements)
