Infrastructure Automation Engineer – HIRING ASAP

Start date: ASAP • Duration: 6-month contract • Location: 1-2 days in London office, 3-4 days remote • Rate: £600 per day inside IR35

Responsibilities

• Design and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, Ansible and GitHub.
• Automate provisioning and configuration of network infrastructure (e.g., firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, SD-WAN).
• Collaborate with the Network Architecture and DevOps team to automate self-service infrastructure configuration.
• Integrate infrastructure automation into CI/CD pipelines for seamless deployment.
• Develop reusable patterns, modules, templates and playbooks that ensure consistency, auditability, and rapid service enablement.
• Monitor infrastructure/cyber and automate remediation workflows.
• Ensure compliance with security and governance policies through automated controls.
• Document infrastructure designs, automation workflows, and operational procedures.

Key Skills

• Experience on large-scale Network transformation programmes.
• Technical leadership of infrastructure-as-code (IaC), automation, deployment, configuration, management and scaling.
• Managing delivery alongside external partners and senior stakeholders.
• Building automated pipelines and orchestration frameworks for hybrid environments (on-premises, private/public cloud) including automated testing.
• Familiarity with SAFe (Agile), Jira, Confluence and related industry-standard tooling.
• Expertise with Aruba networking stack and Application Delivery Controllers.
• Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, VPNs, firewalls).
• Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK).
• Scripting skills including Python and React.

Qualifications & Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with network infrastructure automation using DevOps practices.
• Ability to work across large, complex networks and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
