Infrastructure Support Engineer

New Today

A leading City-based financial services firm is hiring into its newly formed Infrastructure Operations team, and this is a unique opportunity for a hands-on Network Infrastructure Support Engineer looking to deepen and broaden their skill set across both networking and Wintel.

This is a support-driven role but the scope of exposure is unusually wide. You'll be the go-to for global site connectivity issues, firewall config, switching problems, and user access incidents across a varied Microsoft and hybrid cloud estate. There's structured training, funded certifications, and real opportunity to step into gaps across both stacks. This role will be Network-Led Role with Broad upskilling

Location: Central London (2-3 days per week in-office)
Salary: Up to £65,000 + benefits

Why this role stands out

  • Broaden your stack: Already strong on networking but want to sharpen your Citrix, VMware or AD skills? You'll work alongside Wintel specialists who'll help build that out.
  • Depth through ownership: Tickets aren't passed around here; you'll be the one resolving issues end-to-end, not logging and escalating.
  • Certs paid for: Need your CCNA, AZ-900, or even a firewall certification? They'll cover it.
  • Low hierarchy, high visibility: You'll report straight to the Infrastructure Ops lead in a small team with influence.
  • Global infrastructure without big-enterprise red tape: Offices in the UK, US and APAC, but no 20-person change board slowing you down.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting and maintaining network infrastructure: routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs (Meraki, Cisco, Checkpoint)
  • Handling escalated support tickets from the service desk across network and Wintel issues
  • Managing BAU Wintel tasks: Active Directory changes, patching, basic Citrix/VMware support
  • Responding to site-level issues (e.g. Wi-Fi dropouts in global offices, firewall troubleshooting)
  • Helping improve internal documentation and infrastructure resilience

What we're looking for

  • Solid networking knowledge - ideally CCNA-level or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Experience resolving live issues across switches, firewalls, VPNs and connectivity
  • Familiarity with Windows infrastructure - Active Directory, patching, endpoint config
  • Experience in a ticket-driven environment, this is a support role, not architecture
  • Background in mid-sized firms or MSPs (200-3000 user environments is ideal)
  • Someone who enjoys both learning and ownership; you'll grow fast here if you lean in

If you've been the "go-to" infra support person before and want to stretch yourself in a global setting, contact us.
