About the Company

Our client is a dynamic and growing engineering consultancy headquartered in Greater Manchester, renowned for delivering inventive structural solutions across a wide range of sectors. The company has a portfolio spanning residential, commercial, industrial, and adaptive reuse projects.

  • Holistic engagement: from concept design to site supervision and through to project completion, with in-house handling to foster professional development.
  • Innovative, practical solutions: balancing cutting-edge design with robust, buildable engineering.
  • Sustainable engineering: integration of sustainability metrics (e.g., embodied carbon, material efficiency) into structural decision-making.
  • Collaborative culture: small-to-mid-sized teams with direct mentorship, cross-disciplinary collaboration, and early exposure to client interaction.

The Role

You will join as a Structural Engineer with around two years of post-graduate experience. You’ll be embedded within project delivery teams and supported by senior engineers and directors to build your skills in a supportive, yet autonomous environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop structural designs and calculations for multi-material projects—including steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
  • Prepare reports, drawings, and specifications aligned with current British Standards (BS) and Eurocodes (UK-compliant).
  • Collaborate with architects, MEP consultants, and contractors to ensure seamless integration of structural elements.
  • Conduct design reviews, checking and quality controlling work across junior team members’ output.
  • Visit sites as required for feasibility studies, inspections, and to support project execution.
  • Engage in technical meetings and support presentations to clients and delivery teams.
  • Contribute to internal continuous improvement such as optimising design workflows or enhancing digital tools/software processes.

Your Profile

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in structural design, including use of analysis software (e.g., Tekla, SCIA, SAP2000, IDEA Statica) and CAD/BIM platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Strong technical knowledge of steel, concrete, masonry, or timber design in accordance with UK regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Clear communication abilities, both verbal and written—confident in producing reports and presenting to internal teams and clients.
  • A proactive, team-oriented attitude; keen to learn and progress.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with sustainability or embodied carbon assessment tools.
  • Experience with multidisciplinary project delivery and client-facing exposure.
  • Chartered status (ICE, IStructE) or clear route toward professional accreditation.

What You’ll Gain

  • A structured progression path, with regular feedback, CPD opportunities, and technical support.
  • Exposure to diverse project types—from urban residential developments and commercial refurbishments to light industrial and educational projects.
  • A friendly, open culture with hybrid working flexibility based in their modern Sale office.
  • Competitive benefits such as pension, annual performance bonus, and access to training programs.
