We welcome applications from Lead Engineers across this region.Our Structures Team is involved in designing some of the largest civil engineering and infrastructure projects across Scotland, with cumulative values exceeding £1bn.Amey manages both the Southwest and Northeast Trunk Road Network Management contracts, awarded in 2020 and 2022 respectively, with durations of 8 years, extendable up to 12. We also have a diverse portfolio of major roads, bridges, and transportation projects with Transport Scotland, Local Authorities, and contractors nationwide.These long-term contracts offer excellent opportunities for technical, engineering, and professional growth at all career stages, involving some of Scotland’s most exciting engineering projects.The roleAs a Lead Bridge Engineer, you will play a key role within the Design team and in collaboration with Transport Scotland. You will support the Design Team Leader on various civil schemes, lead projects, and mentor junior designers.Responsibilities include:Leading a team to produce technically sound engineering solutions, complying with standards and client requirementsPreparing and reviewing designs, calculations, drawings, and documentation to meet quality, cost, and schedule criteriaOverseeing junior staff and ensuring accountability for their workManaging project budgets and costs for your portfolioLiaising with clients and suppliers, attending meetings, and responding to queriesContributing to bid preparations and work-winning activitiesPromoting health and safety practices within the teamWhat you will bring to us:Experience and expertise in relevant technical fields, likely from a Senior Engineer role or similarAbility to produce compliant, high-quality engineering solutions independently and supervise othersExperience with health, safety, and welfare management, including CDM regulationsCapability to act as a main engineering contact, e.g., CRE for Network Rail schemesKnowledge of design and specification processes, with ability to review designsProficiency with relevant software and analytical toolsUnderstanding of CDM and risk assessment, with experience managing hazards and risksPotential to act as Principal Designer on projectsPeople management skills, capable of managing a medium-sized technical teamIncorporated or Chartered status or equivalent is desirable and may be essential for certain contractsWhat we can offer you:We value our people and offer flexibility, career development, benefits, and support.
