The role of Civil Designer is to manage the production of discipline specific engineering design deliverables, for a range of multi-disciplinary engineering projects. This includes the design and assessment of various Civil structures, typically encountered on Water and Wastewater sites. This might include the design or assessment of concrete plinths, base-slabs, retaining walls, tanks, channels and flumes etc. designed to resist specified static and dynamic forces generated by the equipment or medium placed upon, in, or adjacent to them. You will also be required to consider the construction aspects of the afore mentioned structures, including ground conditions, buildability and demolition.Main duties and responsibilitiesProvide management support on projects across the business, in the design and optioneering phases, to develop initial client concept designs or requirements into workable solutionsLiaise with internal and external clients to identify their exact requirementsAttend site-based surveys to understand the needs of a given project, including meeting client representatives as well as gathering information and data to inform the optimum design solutionPrepare Civil / Structural design calculations as applicable.Carry out Civil / Structural surveys to identify and advise on any potential issues.Work with minimal supervision, you will be able to manage your own projects from design through to completion.Supervise the production of design drawings by the CAD / BIM team in line with the project programmeHave strong communication skills and be personable to complement the friendly working environment.Deliver technical quality and excellence of project deliverablesAdhere to CDM Regulations 2015, including carrying out Design Risk AssessmentsAttend and support our site teams during the Construction Phase, with TQ's, advice and problem solvingTo be considered for this position you will have at least 2-3 years previous design experience ideally within a civil engineering or construction environment. The ideal candidate will have a good understanding of structural theory, with proven problem-solving ability as well as good all-round technical design expertise using British and/or Eurocodes.
