THE COMPANY

This award-winning scale-up is transforming the property sector through advanced data science, predictive modelling, and machine learning. In this role, you’ll play a pivotal part in building the infrastructure that powers real-time customer behaviour insights for businesses across the industry.

THE ROLE

As a Lead Data Engineer you will set the technical direction of a high-performing data team while remaining hands-on in architecting and scaling complex data systems. You’ll lead a team of senior engineers, establish coding standards, and ensure best practices while delivering the foundations that enable rapid model deployment and high-volume data pipelines.

Specifically, you can expect to be involved in the following:

• Designing and optimising modern data architecture and automated data ingestion pipelines
• Building robust APIs for high-volume, low-latency data access
• Implementing scalable infrastructure using AWS, Snowflake, and related tools
• Leading and mentoring 3–4 senior data engineers while remaining technically hands-on
• Partnering with data science leadership to create reliable pipelines and a clean data layer for advanced modelling

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

The successful Lead Data Engineer will have the following skills and experience:

• Strong expertise with Python and SQL
• Proven experience with AWS, Snowflake, and Airflow (or similar orchestration tools)
• Hands-on experience with Spark and dbt for scalable data processing
• Experience in Terraform and Kafka
• Track record of leading or mentoring data engineering teams
• Background in a startup or scale-up environment, comfortable working end-to-end.
• Ideally a Master’s degree
