OverviewMechanical Design Engineer – Contractor role at SpaceJobSearch.com2 months ago Be among the first 25 applicantsLocation: Guildford, England, United KingdomTHIS ROLE SITS INSIDE IR35*Company: Surrey Satellite TechnologyResponsibilitiesDesign of components/systems to fulfil customer requirements using 3D modelling tools and techniquesCompletion of manufacturing drawings to enable component procurement and support of manufacturing activities and inspectionsDocumenting and implementing design changes using Engineering Change NoticesWriting detailed assembly procedures and technical build informationUndertake integration of the mechanical components/assemblies in clean room facilitiesCreating and maintaining build logsCreating BoMs and managing/inputting into MRP systemsSupport design of electronics enclosures, generate PCB board outlines and liaise with the electrical design team to ensure compatibility with printed circuit assembliesFlexibility and willingness to support other teams/disciplines within the department in areas such as Propulsion, Mechanisms and Optical InstrumentsFlexibility to support at more than one site on occasionKey Specifications / ExperienceNationality: Eligible to live and work in the UK and gain security clearance up to SC levelQualifications: A good degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalentExperience: Proven and relevant experience, preferably in the space industry although not essential; practical experience in support of mechanical build and testing activities is an advantageKnowledge & Skills: Competent use of SolidWorks CAD package; familiarity with MRP systems; knowledge of materials, surface treatments and finishes for aerospace mechanical design; electrical harness design and integration experience; good attention to detail; understanding of Spacecraft Systems and manufacturing methods; competent use of Microsoft Office; understanding of space design environment; strong communication and technical documentation skillsPractical Skills: Good assembly and integration experience; proven ability to deliver solutions under pressure and tight timescales; experience drawing checking and releaseJob DetailsSeniority level: Entry levelEmployment type: Full-timeJob function: Engineering and Information TechnologyIndustries: Defense & SpaceApply date: July 02, 2025NotesSign in to set job alerts for “Mechanical Design Engineer” roles.
