We're looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer for a well-established power generation business providing low-carbon energy and storage solutions for a mix of industrial and public sector clients.

Mechanical Design Engineer (Contract - Outside IR35) Outside IR35 Power Generation & Energy Storage £40£50 per hour (DoE) Manchester 36 Months +

Responsibilities will include:

Produce mechanical design packs, specifications, process flow diagrams, P&IDs, and equipment schedules for power generation and energy storage projects.

Liaise with CAD teams and suppliers to ensure design packages meet quality standards, budget, and deadlines.

Carry out mechanical calculations including pipe/pump sizing, heat recovery, heat rejection, ventilation, etc.

Support project managers during installation, commissioning, and testing phases, providing technical input and resolving issues.

Attend site surveys and coordinate with internal and external teams to ensure smooth project delivery.

Qualifications and Experience:

HND/Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.

Proven experience in mechanical design for industrial plant or power generation systems.
