OverviewThe Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control and Automation (MEICA) role is vital to the effective/efficient running of flood risk pumping stations, water control structures and the wider business. You will join a MEICA team to prioritise, plan and deliver the maintenance or replacement of crucial assets enabling flood protection to homes, businesses and the environment. You will work closely with external contractors to develop a world class asset management organisation and provide technical leadership to assure MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational requirements across diverse geographic areas.ResponsibilitiesProvide strong technical leadership to assure technical and design standards for MEICA activities.Monitor quality and advise on requirements to meet specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental and operational standards.Lead and support MEICA activities, liaising with a wide range of business partners and taking actions on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers.Act as technical leader on MEICA activity and participate in response to flood incidents.Support maintenance planning, prioritisation and delivery for assets to ensure reliability and protection for communities and the environment.Experience and QualificationsComprehensive knowledge of engineering-related statutory legislation, British and European standards.Experience in leading safety investigations and disseminating learning to improve engineering and behavioural safety.Knowledge and experience of Root Cause Analysis, reliability engineering, process improvement, technical leadership, and writing/reviewing technical specifications.Educated to a minimum of HNC/D or degree level in a Mechanical discipline.Full UK Driving Licence is ESSENTIAL.Role-specific professional membership: I-Eng or C-Eng preferred but not essential.Role DetailsSeniority level: AssociateEmployment type: Full-timeLocation: South East (hybrid/homeworking with site visits); full UK driving licence is essentialContact and Additional InformationFor more information, please email Neil Hull at neil.hull@environment-agency.gov.uk.
