Are you ready to join a team of talented engineers and shape the future of the Nuclear Industry? We are expanding our Nuclear Team and seeking a Safety Case Expert to join our team. This role offers the chance to participate in multi-disciplinary projects at various stages of the lifecycle, from client consultancy to comprehensive turn-key solutions. You will contribute to developing a strong, effective team and delivering high-quality work under the guidance of senior staff. You will work closely with clients, partners, and contractors, assisting with communication and coordination across key project stages, and you will support projects from concept through to completion, including design, procurement, subcontracting, factory acceptance, installation, site acceptance, and commissioning. This role is ideal for an engineer with experience in safety case development, offering exposure to a wide range of high-profile projects within the sector.

Responsibilities

  • Support the nuclear portfolio in AECOM (Civil and Defence) as a safety case assistant
  • Maintain resource competence (SQEP)
  • Support efforts to win work relating to nuclear safety
  • Contribute to safety case delivery on projects
  • Foster strong client relationships to deliver a right-first-time approach for technical delivery
  • Support development of nuclear safety training and contribute to multidisciplinary knowledge-sharing initiatives
  • Keep informed of new developments and requirements, recommending changes in approach and best practice

What we’re looking for

  • Experience in developing nuclear safety cases within the nuclear sector, with willingness to build on knowledge through mentoring and hands-on project work
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to the delivery of engineering work packages under guidance of senior engineers
  • Experience supporting various stages of the project lifecycle with an understanding of end-to-end project delivery
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for preparing technical documentation and contributing to technical discussions; open to presenting work to peers and receiving feedback
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously when required, with a commitment to learning and thriving in a dynamic deadline-driven environment

Qualifications (Desirable)

  • MEng/BEng in Science or Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Working towards Chartership
