WSP is looking for Principal Engineers and Associates to join our Digital industry-leading Intelligent Infrastructure team. We are expanding our Digital Infrastructure Design Capability across all areas and are actively seeking individuals to join our team who have a strong enthusiasm for digital technologies and digital design methodologies. It is crucial to us that our team members question traditional design practices, challenge the status quo, and conceive innovative solutions to enhance our design and delivery processes.

Role and Responsibilities

As a Principal Engineer or Associate, you will be responsible for leading infrastructure design schemes at both discipline and multi-discipline levels (dependent on grade) using your experience in roadside infrastructure design. You are expected to collaborate effectively with the team, lead problem-solving efforts, provide support and address any gaps as necessary. You will be accountable for the quality of the outputs from the team, ensuring that they meet high expectations. Your role will require strong client engagement, a positive mindset, and the ability to navigate client needs in line with corporate responsibilities, escalating issues to senior staff when appropriate.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline and working towards professional registration with an accredited institute.
  • Possess domain knowledge in a relevant industry, such as power, communications, electrical, electronics, and highway design.
  • Understanding of roadside infrastructure and design standards
  • Lead design processes, including the use of design tools
  • Lead a team in delivering designs or schemes
  • Collaborating with colleagues from other disciplines, understanding their basic principles
  • Ability to collaborate successfully with clients and manage their expectations
  • Ability to undertake the role of lead engineer to successfully take a scheme from inception to handover with the client
  • Ability to motivate, develop and lead junior members of the team, encouraging individual growth and performance
  • Ability to problem-solve and be self-motivated when undertaking specific tasks with minimal support from peers
