Overview

Principal Electrical Engineer (Energy Transition) role at WSP. Lead and develop innovative solutions to complex problems, delivering projects at various stages of maturity. Prepare and develop electrical deliverables, collaborate with equipment vendors, and assess the condition of electrical assets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop cost-effective, efficient and innovative solutions to complex problems to create practical designs in collaboration with the wider project team.
  • Deliver projects in a variety of maturity stages, including Feasibility Studies, Concept Designs, FEED Studies, Value Engineering and Detailed Design.
  • Prepare and develop Electrical deliverables such as Single Line Diagrams, cable calculations, cable block diagrams, plant layouts, cable routing, cable containment design, switchgear configurations and bill of materials/quantities for electrical systems.
  • Collaborate with equipment vendors on developing designs of equipment packages and participate in technical evaluations of vendor designs.
  • Work with owners, operators and investors to assess the condition of electrical assets and their designs for capability, risk, opportunity and intervention needs.
  • Develop proposals and bids for the EC&I discipline and contribute to multi-disciplinary proposals and lifecycle support for clients.

What we look for

  • Degree or similar qualification in relevant Engineering subject with significant post-graduate experience in electrical design and/or operation, maintenance and testing.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards IEng/CEng and a member of a relevant Engineering Institute.
  • Ability and desire to lead the development of Electrical deliverables and assess assets under construction or in operation.
  • Knowledge of design, construction and operation of power and energy projects.
  • Experience with design processes and working knowledge of brief/scope documents, design concepts, calculations, commissioning, operation, maintenance and testing of medium and high voltage equipment and systems.
