We are recruiting a Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer to join our expanding Infrastructure Engineering team in Bristol. The individual should have experience leading projects and teams, whilst also being comfortable getting hands-on with the technical design and production of drawings and documentation.You will be working on a diverse set of interesting and challenging projects; no one day will be the same. We offer opportunities for learning and development to help you achieve your career goals and aspirations.ResponsibilitiesLead in the production of residential or general infrastructure development schemes, including highways, drainage, levels and plot engineering.Undertake an independent holistic lead role on major projects, working with others and managing/prioritising workload for junior team members.Design using relevant best practice and guidance (e.g., Manual for Streets, Design and Construction Guidance, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, Local Authority design standards).Prepare drawings and calculations for both private and adoptable arrangements; obtain ordinary watercourse consent and secure technical approval from key authorities in relation to S104 and S38 section agreements.Manage non-technical project aspects such as contract management, including financials, programme and resourcing; experience with client-facing roles.Apply consultancy/private sector development experience with a pragmatic approach and understanding of residential development schemes from concept to construction.Demonstrate effective organisational and communication skills with a collaborative approach.Qualifications and SkillsBEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or related subject plus 6+ years relevant post-graduate experience; ideally Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant body (e.g., ICE).Demonstrable ability to lead in the production of residential or general infrastructure development schemes and manage project workload for junior team members.Numerate and software literate with experience of AutoCAD, Civils3D or similar, and drainage modelling software (e.g., Causeway Flow or similar).Experience with drainage design, watercourse consent processes, and design to adoptable standards.Full driving licence and access to a car.What’s in it for youYou can expect to be part of a proactive and vibrant team that encourages individual autonomy and initiative, facilitating a better work-life balance within a supportive and collaborative environment.
