Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer (General Civils and Residential) - Bristol

We are recruiting a Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer to join our expanding Infrastructure Engineering team in Bristol. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to deliver an exceptional service that creates sustainable and successful development with a wide-ranging portfolio of clients in all sectors across the UK.

The role involves delivering high-quality civil engineering design and leading projects and teams, while also being comfortable with hands-on technical design and production of drawings and documentation.

What we are looking for

We seek a talented individual who can deliver a high-quality service, think creatively, and work collaboratively to develop pragmatic and innovative design solutions to the technical challenges of land development. The successful candidate will have experience leading projects and teams and will be comfortable contributing to technical design and documentation.

Your knowledge and expertise

  • BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or a related subject plus 6+ years relevant postgraduate experience; ideally Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE).
  • Proven ability to lead in the production of residential or general infrastructure development schemes, including highways, drainage, levels and plot engineering; experience leading major projects and managing junior team workload.
  • Ability to design using best practice and guidance such as Manual for Streets, Design and Construction Guidance, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, and Local Authority design standards.
  • Ability to prepare drawings and calculations for private and adoptable arrangements; experience obtaining consents and technical approvals (e.g., S104 and S38 agreements).
  • Numerate and software literate with experience of AutoCAD, Civils3D or similar; drainage modelling software experience (e.g., Causeway Flow).
  • Ability to manage non-technical aspects such as contract management, financials, programme and resourcing; experience in client-facing roles.
  • Consultancy/private sector development background with a pragmatic approach and understanding of residential development from concept to construction.
  • Effective organisational and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car.
