Overview

Principal Infrastructure/Civil Engineer to join the expanding Infrastructure Engineering team in Bristol. This is a unique opportunity to help deliver an exceptional service that creates sustainable and successful development with a wide-ranging portfolio of clients in all sectors across the UK.

We are looking for a talented individual who can deliver a high-quality service, think creatively, and collaborate to develop pragmatic and innovative design solutions to land development challenges. The role involves leading projects and teams while also being hands-on with technical design and production of drawings and documentation. The candidate should have a strong understanding of Civil Engineering best practice and standards and the technical design skills to produce high-quality work across a range of projects. The individual will use initiative and professional judgment to support client projects and goals.

Responsibilities and requirements

  • BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering or a related degree plus 6+ years of relevant postgraduate experience; ideally Chartered or Incorporated with a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE).
  • Demonstrable ability to lead in the production of residential or general infrastructure development schemes, including highways, drainage, levels, and plot engineering. Experience leading major projects, managing workload, and prioritising tasks for junior team members.
  • Design using relevant best practices and guidance (e.g., Manual for Streets, Design and Construction Guidance, CIRIA SuDS Manual, Sewerage Sector Guidance, Building Regulations, Local Authority design standards).
  • Prepare drawings and calculations for both private and adoptable arrangements. Experience obtaining ordinary watercourse consent with watercourse bodies and technical approval from key authorities in relation to S104 and S38 agreements.
  • Numerate and software literate with AutoCAD and 3D modelling (e.g., Civils3D). Experience with drainage modelling software (e.g., Causeway Flow or similar).
  • Ability to manage non-technical project aspects such as contract management, financials, programme, and resourcing. Experience in client-facing roles.
  • Consultancy/private sector development background with a pragmatic approach and understanding of residential development schemes from concept to construction.
  • Effective organisational and communication skills with a collaborative approach.
  • A full driving licence and access to a car.
