Overview

Principal Mechanical Engineer - Water Sector role at Stantec. This position is based in the South West or Midlands (locations including Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Birmingham, Derby or Redditch). You will be involved in the full project life cycle from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support, including site surveys and investigations.

There is substantial opportunity within our engineering teams and continued support for our important work for United Utilities. You will contribute to leading mechanical design for infrastructure and non-infrastructure projects, including water and wastewater treatment plants, conveyance systems, pumping stations and more.

Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design for infrastructure & non-infrastructure projects in the water sector.
  • Work across the full project life cycle from feasibility and optioneering to detailed design and construction support.
  • Conduct site surveys and investigations to inform design decisions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical leads, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders to deliver positive project outcomes.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior engineers within the team.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject; Chartered status or working toward it is preferred.
  • Experience in detailed design within the water industry; experience with delivery contractors is beneficial.
  • There may be opportunities to take on line management responsibilities for the right candidate.
