Principal Mechanical Engineer

We are looking for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to work on a long term contract in the Chorley area/Hybrid.
Rate is c£50-61 Ltd per hour (depending on experience)
The role is working Monday to Thursday (typically 2 days in the office, 2 days working from home).
Duties for the Principal Mechanical Engineer:

Lead mechanical design projects, ensuring solutions meet safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

Support the Engineering Manager with project reporting, bid preparation, scheduling, and change control.
*
Plan and coordinate engineering activities, tracking progress against scope, budget, and timeline.
*
Identify risks, technical issues, and improvement opportunities, implementing corrective or recovery actions where needed.
*
Oversee preparation of design documentation, specifications, and analysis plans in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
*
Ensure robust application of nuclear and conventional safety principles and design risk assessments.
*
Maintain effective control of engineering interfaces, design data, and configuration management systems.
