We’re seeking proactive problem solvers eager to work across our entire tech stack. You are self-motivated, able to work independently, and possess a strong product sense, creating experiences that are not just functional but engaging and fun—after all, we’re building for teenagers! You have a growth mindset, a passion for continuous learning, and a drive to help others learn too. Responsibilities

Become the Subject Matter Expert for your area. Make tough technical decisions balancing velocity, serviceability, and sustainability. Set and maintain a high bar for software engineering practices – design, coding, testing. Mentor members across the software engineering organisation. Participate in the team’s on-call rotation. Collaborate with product, design, operations, and learning teams to understand requirements and articulate technical decisions and outcomes. Requirements

8+ years' experience in backend development using Java/Spring Boot or equivalent. Experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies (Kubernetes). Deep understanding of system software, especially distributed systems. Experience designing and delivering complex systems into production, and supporting them post-production. Empowering and mentoring is important to you and you love teaching your skills and approach to others. When you speak, people listen and trust your expert opinion.
