What you will be doing

Working on a variety of projects across Energy, Renewable Energy, Healthcare, Heritage, Commercial, Industrial and hospitality sectors. Responsibilities include the efficient and compliant delivery of all structural engineering design on the project, leading the technical design delivery, coordinating with the client to meet technical requirements, and providing day-to-day client liaison and design responsibility for all structural works.

  • Responsible for the efficient and compliant delivery of all structural engineering design on the project, lead the technical design delivery of the project.
  • Coordinate and interface to ensure the project meets the client’s technical requirements; lead day-to-day client liaisons; design responsibilities for all structural works.
  • Support the team in administering the structural design, financial management of the project, and tracking team costs and performance.
  • Manage day-to-day support and mentoring of WSP technical structural staff on the project, under the direction of the Lead Project Engineer and Project Manager.
  • Review and check structural engineering work in line with WSP Management Systems and manuals; delegate to Senior Structural Engineers as required.
  • Progress toward Chartered Engineer status; formal training review with a relevant professional Institution or experienced mentor; if progressed via Apprentice route, achieve Incorporated Engineer status or EngTech.
  • Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills; prepare and deliver letters, emails, reports, and presentations.
  • Proficiency with REVIT Structure and integration of structural models with WSP REVIT structures.
  • Develop ability to conceive approximate scheme solutions to assess viability of materials and construction forms.
  • Under supervision, solve structural problems using traditional hand calculations and computer analysis; understand limitations of techniques.
  • Prepare materials and workmanship specifications and design reports; awareness of environmental and sustainability objectives and legislation.
  • Gain experience in construction techniques, plant and machinery, temporary supports, testing procedures, construction programmes, and sequencing; site visits as appropriate.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

  • Experience of organizing design reviews at key project stages.
  • Experience with hazard and risk assessments to mitigate risks on site for personnel and users.
  • Ability to manage and lead through programming and control of resources for project delivery.
  • Technical delivery experience for project elements with a total/combined annual fee income of at least £25k per annum to time and budget.
  • Identify and communicate potential issues impacting programme or scope; share knowledge to improve discipline efficiency and productivity.
  • Understand contract scope and impact of changes; demonstrate buddying experience with at least one Graduate Engineer or Technician.
