Product Safety Engineer Location: Barrow-in-Furness, BAE Systems Pay Rate: £55.31 PAYE or £74.68 Umbrella Duration: 12 months
Key aspects of the role include: Supporting the Vehicle Control Key Safety Function, with a focus on navigation systems. Conducting Hazard Identification (HAZID) and Hazard Analysis (HAZAN) in support of submarine design. Producing detailed Product Safety functional justification reports. Collaborating with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Providing technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers. Delivering specialist safety advice to systems engineers across various submarine programmes.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications Functional Safety principles, particularly for complex, software-centric systems. HAZID and HAZAN techniques. Experience with submarine systems, ideally vehicle control or navigation functions. Expertise in producing Formal Safety Assessments. Strong track record of team collaboration and delivering to schedule. Excellent written communication for producing high-quality technical reports. Ability to perform probabilistic analyses.
