Job Title: Assistant Project Manager (Water Sector)\n Location: Portsmouth Region\n Job Type: Permanent, Full-time (38 hours per week)\n\nThe Role\n\nWe are seeking a degree-qualified Civil Engineer to join our team as an Assistant Project Manager, supporting the delivery of a critical major project in the Portsmouth Region.\n\nYou’ll work closely with the Project Manager to oversee planning, procurement, construction, and handover of key pipeline and network projects. This role is ideal for candidates currently working as Project Engineers or Assistant Project Managers within the water sector. This could be across clients, consultancies or contractor organisations.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nSupport the Project Manager in the delivery of water infrastructure projects from design to completion.\nAttend and contribute to stakeholder meetings, ensuring alignment across design, construction, and delivery teams.\nPrepare and support monthly progress reports, governance papers, and programme updates.\nManage design interfaces with approved suppliers and ensure NEC contract compliance through CEMAR.\nLead procurement activities and monitor contractor performance.\nCoordinate with internal and external stakeholders to secure approvals and ensure compliance with regulatory targets (ODIs).\nEnsure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to quality standards within agreed budgets.\nKey Requirements\n\nDegree-qualified Civil Engineer (or equivalent discipline) – essential.\nProven experience in UK water sector capital delivery projects (AMP7/AMP8 experience highly desirable).\nBackground with a client organisation, consultancy, or Tier 1 contractor in the water industry.\nFamiliarity with NEC contract management and CEMAR systems (desirable).\nProfessional membership (e.g.
