This role is critical in ensuring that their complex marine handling systems meet strict quality, safety, and compliance standards throughout the design, manufacturing, and delivery lifecycle.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nProduce and maintain welding and painting documentation in accordance with customer specifications, classification society requirements, and international standards.\nSupport the creation and implementation of Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), including coordination of inspection points, hold/witness stages, and sign-off processes.\nCollaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Project Management to ensure quality requirements are defined and integrated throughout the design and production lifecycle.\nSupport the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) process, including root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions using structured problem-solving methods (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys).\nAct as a quality representative during Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), customer inspections, and third-party verification activities.\nAnalyse quality performance data to identify trends, support continuous improvement initiatives, and escalate risks or issues where appropriate.\nSupport compliance with the business management system and promote alignment with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) standards and procedures.\nSupport BOM Creation, Gated Design Reviews, and the Product Introduction Processes.\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nDegree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, or a related technical field.\nExperience in Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering within a manufacturing or engineering environment.\nUnderstanding of engineering and manufacturing processes, ideally in marine, defence, or high-integrity sectors.\nFamiliarity with standards including ISO 9001, AQAP-2110/2015, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.\nKnowledge of ship classification society rules and their application to marine systems.\nCompetency in quality tools and techniques (e.g., 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams).\nExperience with audit processes and quality management systems (e.g., DRACAS, PLM platforms).\nCertified ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or willingness to become certified.\nMust have the right to work in the UK.\n\nDesirable Skills:\n\nExperience with Replenishment at Sea (RAS) systems or other mechanical/marine handling equipment.\nExposure to defence industry standards, inspections, and customer compliance protocols.\nFamiliarity with LEAN, Six Sigma, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.\nExperience supporting engineering-led quality processes (e.g., design assurance, validation testing).\n\nKey Competencies:\n\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain and Project Management teams.\nDetail-oriented and highly organised, with a structured approach to documentation and inspection activities.\nProactive mindset with a strong aptitude for problem-solving and supporting root cause analysis.\nA professional and customer-focused attitude, particularly during inspections, FATs, and external audits.\nSelf-motivated and able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic engineering environment.\n\nBenefits:\n\nOpportunity to work for a world-leading supplier of maritime solutions.\nBe part of a diverse team spread across several countries, embracing collaboration and cultural .\nCompetitive pay and benefits, including attractive insurance policies and pension schemes.\nHybrid working arrangement.\nIf you are an experienced Quality Engineer looking for an exciting new opportunity in Gateshead, we would love to hear from you.
