Quality & Process Engineer - Aerospace & Advanced Manufacturing

Manchester – Permanent – Full-time – Monday to Friday – 37 hours – Salary £45-50,000

Are you a quality-focused engineer who thrives on driving performance, improving processes, and embedding robust controls into a high-spec manufacturing environment?

We are seeking a Quality & Process Engineer to join our Manchester operations, playing a vital role in driving continuous improvement, reducing waste, and ensuring world-class customer satisfaction. Working within an AS9100/ISO9001 regulated setting, this position supports both day-to-day production and long-term business growth through new product introduction and process development.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee quality activities across the production value stream, ensuring adherence to internal and external standards
  • Implement and maintain APQP methodologies including PFMEA, Control Plans, PPAP, FAIR, and SPC
  • Lead process capability studies and statistical analysis to support data-driven decision making
  • Provide root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action using 8D, DMAIC, and PPS tools
  • Drive reductions in process variation, waste, and scrap through strong process control strategies
  • Collaborate on New Product Introduction (NPI), working cross-functionally to embed quality from concept to launch
  • Monitor performance metrics and quality KPIs, reporting progress against continuous improvement plans
  • Support supplier quality investigations and manage MRB (Material Review Board) processes
  • Maintain and improve written procedures in line with business management systems
  • Participate in and support internal/external audits and regulatory compliance reviews
  • Stay current with best practices in quality management, tools, and technologies

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a Quality and/or Process Engineering role within a manufacturing environment (AS9100 or ISO9001)
  • Strong working knowledge of APQP, PPAP, Control Plans, FAIR, ISIR, and SPC
  • Skilled in quality and process engineering tools: Yamazumi, VSM, Time Studies, Spaghetti Diagrams
  • Proficient at interpreting engineering drawings, including GD&T
  • Practical understanding of compliance, risk assessment, and process safety
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

Desirable extras

  • Trained ISO 9001/AS9100 internal auditor
  • Hands-on experience with CMMs and other dimensional inspection tools
  • Lean manufacturing exposure (5S, SMED, Jidoka, Single Piece Flow)
  • Familiar with Microsoft Project or other project management tools
  • Experience in launching new processes or supporting industrialisation
