New Today

Overview

Office requirement: Hybrid with two days a week in office. Employment type: Full Time, Permanent.

At GWI we’re always looking for extraordinary people who thrive on making an extraordinary impact. We’re looking for a Sales Engineer to play a key role in our Revenue team in London. If that’s you, and making a difference gets you out of bed in the morning, keep reading.

Sounds great, what will I be doing?

As our Sales Engineer you’ll partner with sales teams to win business by translating customer needs into clear, technically sound API and data solutions. Serve as the technical lead in the pre-contract phase, engaging with prospects to define solution approaches, demonstrate capabilities, and ensure proposed integrations are feasible and aligned with business objectives. Post-sale, hand over the detailed solution design to the Solution Architect function for deeper technical execution and customer onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

Pre-Sales Technical Leadership

  • Partner with Account Executives during the sales cycle to assess customer requirements and propose optimal API and data integration solutions.
  • Lead technical discovery sessions with prospects to understand existing systems, data flows, and integration constraints.
  • Articulate and demonstrate API capabilities, data models, and integration patterns to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Evaluate technical feasibility of proposed solutions, identifying any blockers and mitigation strategies before contract close.
  • Translate business requirements into high-level architecture diagrams, integration workflows, and technical statements of work.
  • Powerful asset and partner for Product Marketing when rolling out new launches to the field, building new demo assets and then iterating and providing feedback on how these land with customers, gaps in functionality etc

Solution Proposal & Documentation

  • Create and maintain pre-sales technical assets, including demo environments, sample API calls, code snippets, and reference integrations.
  • Provide clear documentation of proposed integrations for smooth transition to the Solution Architect post-contract.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams to validate solution approaches and ensure alignment with platform capabilities and roadmap.
  • Act as the bridge between sales, product, and engineering during the sales process.
  • Capture market and prospect feedback on API/data features to inform product development.
  • Support RFP responses with technical input, diagrams, and integration feasibility assessments.

It’s also fun; shaking things up is what working for a growing company is all about. You’ll need to be flexible, comfortable with continuous change, and working in a high-tempo environment as we grow.

What do I need to bring with me?

You’ll need to be able to demonstrate the core skills this role requires. You don't have to tick all the boxes right away; the important thing is that you’re willing to learn. Here’s what the team will be looking for:

  • Proven experience as a Pre-Sales Engineer, Sales Engineer, or Solutions Consultant role with a focus on APIs, SaaS platforms, or data integrations.
  • Strong understanding of REST API design, authentication (OAuth, JWT), and data formats (JSON, XML, CSV).
  • Familiarity with common integration patterns (ETL, webhooks, event streaming, middleware orchestration).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to explain technical solutions to mixed technical/business audiences.
  • Comfortable in fast-paced sales cycles, balancing multiple opportunities simultaneously.
  • Attitude: we value big thinking, curiosity to improve, and respect for everyone at all levels. These are core values at GWI.
