About the RoleThis is a hands-on, high-impact role as technical lead across the full AI/ML lifecycle, from problem definition through to deployment and ongoing model monitoring. You will collaborate with developers, data engineers, product owners, and service teams to turn ideas into production-grade systems. In this role, you will also help shape the council\'s AI engineering standards and toolchains, ensuring that our AI initiatives are ethical, explainable, secure, and scalable. You will be a technical leader, mentoring colleagues and sharing best practice, while staying at the forefront of emerging AI capabilities including large language models, generative AI, and multi-agent systems. About youYou\'re an experienced engineer who combines technical depth with leadership skills and an innovative and collaborative approach to problem solving. You have demonstrable experience in designing and deploying AI/ML systems in the cloud, you can communicate clearly with non-technical colleagues, and thrive in an evolving, values-driven environment. You\'ll bring expertise in Azure AI tools and infrastructure, a passion for learning and experimenting with other platforms and tools, and a commitment to using technology ethically and responsibly to deliver better outcomes for Salford\'s people.
