As a Senior Automation Engineer you will interact with both internal colleagues and external suppliers to develop, implement and support automated solutions and applications across the organisation.
Location: Leeds
Salary: £50,395 - £55,434
Type: Fixed Term Contract to 31/12/2026
As a Senior Automation Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting SPW’s strategic goal of increasing efficiency through process automation.
The Cloud Engineering team is responsible for the management and maintenance of cloud infrastructure, collaborative tools and SaaS applications at SPW. The team includes a thriving Automation function that plays a key role in designing and integrating Automation and AI solutions to enhance business processes and drive efficiency. We’re looking for an experienced Automation Engineer to help shape the future direction of this dynamic and evolving team.
Responsibilities
- Configure and deploy automation solutions based on predefined patterns
- Tailor reusable templates to meet business-specific requirements
- Contribute to the documentation and enablement of automation patterns
- Validate and refine patterns based on implementation feedback
- Interact with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to develop and support solutions across the organization
- Implement solutions to time and quality standards, aligning with business requirements
- Participate in cross-organizational squads to develop capabilities and gain advocacy for solutions
- Discuss solutions with business customers, technical experts, and vendors to deliver collaborative solutions
- Work with the wider team to stand up the Automation Centre of Excellence Platform
Technical Experience
- Using the Microsoft PowerPlatform for automation and process improvement
- Experience with Azure AI and Copilot
- MS365 Product Suite (MS Teams, Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business)
- Office Engineering (Telemetry, Add On management & governance)
- MS365 Security Tooling
- Microsoft Entra
- Scripting/coding (PowerShell, Power Platform, GraphAPI, JSON, Terraform)
- Experience with Jira and Confluence toolsets
- Interest in process improvement using Automation and AI
Skills & Experience
- Participation in cross-disciplined technical teams
- Agile working
- Working with 3rd party technical suppliers and coordinating development and support activities
- Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to advocate change and influence technical direction
- Self-starting ability with excellent organizational skills
