Senior Bridge Engineer role requiring technical skills and structural knowledge to translate understanding of structural behaviours and analytical techniques into effective analyses and designs. You will work with industry codes (including Eurocodes) and standards, guide teams in analysis, and communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality design documentation including option appraisals, drawings, calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documentation for bridges and related structures.
  • Analyse and design complex bridges and structures using standard industry software (e.g., LUSAS, MIDAS).
  • Lead and guide project teams, manage interfaces with clients, and ensure delivery to time and cost constraints.
  • Support health, safety, and welfare management on projects (Safety by Design).

Candidate specification

Essential

  • Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng/MEng, MSc or equivalent)
  • Chartered Engineer (ICE / IStructE)
  • Ability to produce high quality design documentation, including option appraisals, drawings, calculations, reports, specifications, and construction documentation
  • Demonstrable experience in bridge analysis, design, and assessment with capability in standard industry software (e.g., LUSAS or MIDAS)
  • Commercial and financial awareness; ability to plan and monitor programmes, budgets, and resources
  • Experience and commitment to effective health, safety, and welfare management, including Safety by Design

Desirable

  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical approval documentation for highway and rail structures
  • Experience in managing project teams and providing technical leadership
  • Experience in fee proposals and tender submissions
  • Experience with digital delivery tools and workflows (e.g., BIM, parametric design, automation)
