What We Are Looking For
An opportunity is available for a
Civil Engineer
to join the Genesis UK Project and Discipline Engineering Delivery Team to support the multi-discipline delivery of major energy development studies (typically at conceptual / pre-FEED project stages). These projects includeGigawatt Scale Green Hydrogen, Major Carbon Capture Transportation and Storage, Electrification of New and Existing Facilities, and New Development / Modification Studies to Oil and Gas assets.
We are seeking a Civil Engineer with onshore energy infrastructure development experience to join a successful multi-discipline engineering team that offers opportunities for professional development. We value critical thinking and a proactive approach to contributing to key project decisions.
Genesis globally is managed within core service lines and markets. The UK Operating Centre (offices in Aberdeen and London) is organized into core delivery teams providing advisory services across these services and markets. You will join the UK Project and Discipline Engineering delivery team, currently comprising around 50+ engineers, project engineers and study managers, across six core discipline study teams: Project Engineering and Operations; Piping, Mechanical and Construction; Electrical; Control, Instrumentation & Telecommunications; Structural, Civil and Marine; and Decommissioning.
We are looking for someone who:
Responsibilities
Contribute to front-end multi-discipline engineering studies, providing onshore civil and geotechnical engineering expertise for greenfield and brownfield projects, including
Site preparation, earthworks, cut and fill calculation, flood assessment
Layout – Foundations and earthworks, temporary enabling works, permanent concrete and steel structures
Geotechnical – Specification of onshore site investigation, interpretation of soil data, foundation design (shallow and piled), and temporary works
Brownfield tie-ins with existing infrastructure
Vessel and equipment transport and installation
Participating in all civil and geotechnical engineering discipline activities including preparation and checking of documents, philosophies, specifications, procedures, standards etc.
Greenfield and brownfield cost estimation for civil and geotechnical activities
Scope and carry out varied civil and geotechnical engineering studies as per client scope of work
Participate in safety reviews (e.g. HAZID) and design, layout, construction, and technical impact assessments / reviews
Ensure civil and geotechnical design compliance with project requirements, safety and quality standards (incl. CDM)
Preparation of study reports, technical notes and project specifications in conjunction with other disciplines
Review and comment on client / third-party design deliverables
Seek optimized project solutions, coordinating with multi-disciplinary inputs to challenge and continuously improve / innovate
Requirements
We’d love to hear from you if you can demonstrate:
Recognised degree in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
Previous experience working as an onshore Civil / Geotechnical Engineer – technical and applied knowledge of onshore civil engineering principles and practices
Chartered Engineer (or working towards professional registration)
Offshore geotechnical knowledge an advantage
Excellent communication skills and full command of English (written & spoken)
Good broad computer literacy with competence in MS Office applications
Self-motivation and ability to work to deadlines
A desire to develop new skills and experience
Conceptual / pre-FEED study experience is an advantage
Experience of new energies / energy transition project development is an advantage
