Citi’s Operations & Technology organization (O&T) is driving a Cloud First strategy to optimize the IT environment, reduce complexity, and enable automation for agile application delivery. O&T focuses on scalable, innovative technology solutions that shape the future of global banking.

Public Cloud Engineer responsibilities

  • Implement cloud architecture on AWS, GCP, and Azure that supports compute, database, network, storage, and observability for application hosting in public cloud, following Citi’s engineering processes and best practices, with emphasis on automation and security by design.

Experience essentials (Non-negotiable)

  • Developer experience across multiple languages – Java, Python, etc.

  • Experience with multiple cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Has built CI/CD/SDLC pipelines (e.g., Terraform and Harness).

  • Has served as tech lead within a specialist domain (e.g., container or data platforms).

Value-add experience

  • Networking, transit gateways, proxy, NSG, SG, load balancers, VPCs.

  • Cloud security (e.g., visibility tools or SIEM).

  • Compute in cloud (e.g., EKS, Lambda, GKE, AKS, Argo CD), storage (S3, EFS, EBS, GCS), blob storage.

  • Data services: cloud databases, machine learning, analytics.

  • Messaging services (Kafka, RabbitMQ).

  • Cache/search technologies (ElastiCache, Elasticsearch).

  • API services (Apigee, Kong).

  • Observability and monitoring; identity and access management, dynamic keys and certificates.

  • Test-driven development.

  • More than 5–7 years of real-world cloud experience (any industry).

  • Leads by example; proactive and collaborative.

  • Agile, can context-switch and pivot as needed.

  • Interested in continuous learning and growing technical skills.
