Overview

GHD is a leading global professional services company delivering solutions in water, energy, urbanisation and environment. This role is for an Electrical and Control Systems Engineer to join the power team in Newcastle upon Tyne or Guildford, supporting projects in Europe, the Middle East and Australia.

We are looking for individuals who can contribute to a wholesale re-imagining of how energy systems are structured, delivered and operated. The Senior Control Systems Engineer will work within our power sector service lines providing practical, technically-grounded advice and project management support for power generation, energy conversion and transmission/distribution control systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and contribute to projects incorporating power generation, energy conversion or transmission/distribution control systems aspects.
  • Conceptual design studies and cost-benefit analysis of technical solutions.
  • Production of equipment control philosophy and technical specifications.
  • Basic FEED; acting as owners engineer; technical advisor and due diligence roles.
  • Provide technical support and direction on tenders/bids.
  • Support the training and development of junior engineers.
  • Adapt to deliver non-core technical capability projects as required.

Qualifications

  • A broad understanding of the UK electricity system and the various stakeholders within it.
  • Experience leading and coordinating project delivery desirable.
  • Knowledge of the design and specification of control systems as they pertain to power generation, energy conversion, electricity transmission and distribution systems.
  • Particular experience of battery storage systems desirable.
  • Broader experience in the field of electrical engineering desirable.
  • Experience of FAT, SAT or commissioning desirable.
  • Site experience would be an advantage.
