Senior Data Engineer

Salary: Up to £70,000

Location: Trowbridge - near Bristol (2 days per week)

About the Company/Role

A long-established multinational organisation in the food sector is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join their data infrastructure function. The business serves hundreds of customers with data-rich operations.

You’ll play a key role in managing and improving the data infrastructure, working with Azure and Databricks to ensure data quality, consistency, and availability across the organisation.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manage and enhance data infrastructure to ensure reliability, consistency, and scalability.
• Support deployment of data models in Databricks and PySpark.
• Work with data validation, ETL processes, and cross-functional datasets.
• Lead internal development requirements, supporting analysts and data teams.
• Mentor and oversee junior team members (graduate/apprentice) - but this role is more technical than managerial.

REQUIREMENTS

• Strong SQL skills and experience working with large datasets.
• Hands-on experience with Azure and Databricks.
• Background in consumer services, insurance, or similar data-rich industries desirable.

Interview Process

1. Technical test.
2. Competency interview (virtual).
3. Final face-to-face interview.
