An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a forward-thinking building services consultancy. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on combining hands-on technical design with leadership responsibilities, while driving projects from concept through to handover.

The successful candidate will take a leading role in design delivery, project management, and client engagement, while mentoring junior engineers and helping to shape the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver innovative and sustainable electrical building services designs across a variety of sectors.
• Lead and support junior engineers, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
• Manage design outputs including specifications, drawings, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Attend and chair client and design team meetings, ensuring strong communication throughout.
• Carry out site surveys, inspections, and prepare detailed technical reports.
• Monitor budgets, project timelines, and quality standards to ensure successful delivery.
• Use industry-standard software (AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux Evo, Hevacomp) in daily project work.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and the development of internal design standards.
• Support business development activities through building strong client relationships.

Experience & Expertise

• Significant experience in building services consultancy or contractor design teams.
• Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE Guides, IEE Wiring Regulations, British Standards, and CDM.
• Proven ability to deliver and manage multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
• Skilled in producing design specifications, calculations, technical drawings, and tender documentation.
• Confident in preparing budget estimates and overseeing procurement processes.
• Experience leading site-based activities, surveys, inspections, and contract administration.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor, supervise, and inspire engineering staff.
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills.

Qualifications

• HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related field.
