An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a progressive M&E consultancy. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys a balance of hands-on design and team leadership, while driving projects from concept through to completion.

The successful candidate will take ownership of design delivery, project management, and client relationships, while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver electrical building services designs across a diverse range of projects.
• Lead and support junior engineers, providing mentorship and technical guidance.
• Manage design production including specifications, drawings, schedules, and cost estimates.
• Liaise with clients, attend meetings, and oversee project communications.
• Carry out site surveys, inspections, and produce detailed technical reports.
• Monitor budgets, control project timelines, and ensure quality standards are achieved.
• Use industry-standard software (AutoCAD, Revit, Amtech, Dialux Evo, Hevacomp) in daily project work.
• Contribute to the development of best practice and internal engineering standards.
• Support business development through strong client relationships.

Experience & Expertise

• Extensive experience in building services consultancy or contractor design teams.
• Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CIBSE Guides, IEE Wiring Regulations, British Standards, CDM.
• Proven track record in managing multi-disciplinary engineering projects.
• Skilled in producing design specifications, calculations, technical drawings, and tender documentation.
• Confident in developing budget estimates and managing procurement processes.
• Experience leading site works, surveys, inspections, and contract administration.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor, supervise, and inspire engineering staff.
• Excellent client-facing and communication skills.

Qualifications

• HNC or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or related field.
