We are expanding our Marine Engineering capability and have several on-going projects with clients across commercial and naval marine domains.Senior Marine Engineer – ResponsibilitiesLead pre-concept and concept surface and sub-surface vessel design, complex engineering design and analysis tasks, and the development of new tools and processes.Deliver engineering consultancy services and identify new business opportunities, including decarbonisation solutions and emerging technologies across global maritime programmes.Apply and further develop a breadth of Marine Engineering skills; produce engineering requirements including design changes, modifications, defect investigations, obsolescence and alterations/additions.Apply deep technical understanding of Power & Propulsion and Auxiliary Systems within a Marine environment.Investigate and solve complex technical problems in concept, basic and detailed designs.Develop and maintain technical procedures, standards, processes, practices, and guidelines.Interface directly with customers and clients to discuss and deliver engineering solutions to complex problems.QualificationsDegree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Marine Technology, Naval Engineering), or equivalent experience in naval and commercial ship design, construction, or maintenance.Professional member of a relevant engineering institution (e.g., RINA, IMarEST, IMechE, IET).Recognised as an Incorporated or Chartered Engineer by the UK Engineering Council (or actively working towards accredited status).Essential SkillsStrong understanding of requirements capture and management.Strong understanding of through-life support, scope of work development and obsolescence management.Strong understanding of technical documentation and standards including DEFSTANS, STANAGS, BRs, etc.Strong understanding of the MOD procurement process and common support model.Desired SkillsUnderstanding of the role of a Marine Engineer throughout all stages of the design lifecycle (CADMID).Familiarity with classification society rules, regulations and standards in design, construction and in-service lifecycle phases.Experience of whole ship design, performance assessment, design integration, construction, and through-life maintenance.Experience working in multi-company and engineering discipline teams; effective communication.Experience in a technical consulting environment, leading or supporting multiple engineering projects and customers.Experience in stakeholder engagement and management.ExperienceMinimum of 5 years post-graduate experience (8 years for non-degree qualified) in the naval maritime domain, ideally surface or sub-surface defence.We value learning agility and adaptability; willingness to develop skills and grow with the team.What Do I Need Before I ApplySC ClearanceBenefitsCollaborative working environment; strong client collaboration and teamwork.Opportunities to expand skills and participate in inspiring projects.ExpleoAcademy offers accredited training courses to develop skills.Competitive company benefits.Supportive culture that encourages big thinking and challenging the status quo.We are a Disability Confident Committed Employer with inclusive recruitment, accessible vacancies, reasonable adjustments, and support for employees with disabilities or long-term health conditions.We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
