Arup’s Building Services Engineers tackle diverse challenges—from sustainable strategies to fire suppression, drainage in high-rise buildings to supplying ultra-pure water and piping specialist gases for healthcare, science and industry facilities. We provide integrated building services to our clients as part of a multidisciplinary team.Role and ResponsibilitiesLead the design and delivery of building services systems across projects, applying expertise across all aspects of mechanical engineering.Develop system strategies, coordinate with project teams and stakeholders, and guide thermal and comfort analysis of buildings and spaces.Manage production of models, drawings, reports and specifications, ensuring delivery to budget and deadlines.Supervise and collaborate with colleagues across disciplines.Coordinate with projects in the Midlands (Nottingham or Birmingham) as part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians.Experience in the Science, Industry and Technology sector at detailed design stage, or in Rail buildings across all design assurance levels (DAL), is highly valued.Qualifications and SkillsChartered Engineer status (IMEchE / CIBSE) with broad, hands-on experience in Building Services systems, installations, and a range of project sectors. We also welcome candidates within one year of achieving Chartered status with comparable experience.Strong leadership skills to guide and develop others through training and constructive feedback.Strong interest in sustainable building design with a focus on energy and carbon performance and contributions to optimal project outcomes.Experience delivering complex projects, including integration of renewable technologies and suitability assessments, using tools such as IES for energy modelling.Commercial awareness to plan resources, manage budgets, and contribute to work-winning activities (fee estimation and proposals).What we offerAt Arup, we support each member’s success and growth.
