As a Senior Nuclear Safety Engineer in the \'Aerospace, Defence, Security and Technology\' (ADS&T) group, you\'ll play a vital role in shaping projects. You\'ll provide safety case leadership, support and delivery, and work closely with clients to develop and implement solutions to solve complex problems.

Your Purpose

We want you to help deliver significant defence-related programmes across the UK. This includes the design and construction of new infrastructure, life extensions and upgrades, maintaining ongoing operations, and decommissioning. You will be involved with all aspects of safety case support, including:

  • Shaping the nuclear safety case strategy.
  • Working closely with project partners to ensure a safety-informed design.
  • Engaging with stakeholders to facilitate ‘Right First Time’ delivery (incl. designers, client, site, and regulatory body such as DNSR or ONR).
  • Undertaking safety assessments and safety analysis (e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, FMEA, HAZAN, etc).
  • Producing safety reports and other technical documents (e.g. PSR, PCSR, ALARP reports, etc).
  • Support to Engineering Substantiation activities.
  • Managing/Leading Safety Case activities and teams.

Whilst the office base is in Bristol, Manchester, Silchester or Glasgow, flexibility in work location is a must as client sites may require occasional presence.

Qualifications

  • You have a proven track record in safety, ideally within defence and nuclear domains, or other highly regulated industries.
  • You are ready to take the next step in your career and join a team offering growth opportunities.

  • You enjoy innovating and problem solving.
  • You embrace the digital world and are eager to explore how it can be used in the nuclear safety environment. You engage with others to help them develop and grow.
  • You enjoy explaining complex ideas so others can understand and achieve more.
  • You are approachable and can easily build and develop relationships and networks.
  • Honours Degree (or equivalent) in physics, mechanical engineering, or closely related discipline (2:1 minimum).
  • Chartered (or working towards Chartership status).
  • Technical practitioner in the Nuclear/Defence domains with demonstrated good engineering judgement and application of fundamental engineering principles.
