My client is a specialist civil and geotechnical design consultancy with particular interest in geotechnics. They have a well-equipped design office in theWest Midlands with private parking, and close to a train station. \n \nAlthough they are a small company, they are accredited to undertake permanent and temporary works designs on major infrastructure projects including stabilisation schemes, retaining walls, drainage, soil nails & ground anchor designs, mining risk assessments, embankment and cutting slope and checking of third party designs. They are well respected within the industry and have framework contracts in place with major Principal Contractors. \n \nThey are now looking for a Senior or Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join their team. Candidates will require: \n \n·Strong geotechnical design/analytical capability in relation to slope stability, retaining walls, pile design, anchors, soil nails, foundations, drainage.

\n·Experience in the preparation of construction drawings, specifications and designers risk assessments \n·Good understanding of ground investigation methods and interpretation of ground investigation results. \n·Ability to identify and assess defects/instability features in earthworks, retaining walls and drainage systems. \n·Experience in the design and specification of remedial solutions and preparation of options.

\n·Experience in preparing geotechnical desk study and interpretative reports. \n·Experience in managing geotechnical projects. \n·Experience of costing works and budget control.

\n·Experience of liaising with clients and suppliers. \n·Experience of producing and working to design programmes. \n·Ability to work alone and within a team.

\n·Previous appointment as CRE would be advantageous. \n·Knowledge of industry standard software (e.g. Slope/W, WALLAP, REPUTE, TEDDS, AutoCAD, Excel, etc.).

\n \nProjects typically include the inspection and assessment, cuttings, retaining walls, culverts and drainage assets, development of options for remedial or upgrading works and the design and detailing of practical geotechnical solutions \n \nThe successful candidate will be engaged in all aspects of design development including site surveys, feasibility & options studies, analytical design, preparation of reports, specifications and drawings, budgetary control and liaison with clients and suppliers.
