From motorways to tramways, nuclear power plants to smart cities, clients choose us to help them solve their most complex challenges - delivering climate-responsible growth that meets the needs of communities, industry, and the planet.You will be based in our office in Birmingham.Job DescriptionWe are looking for a Senior Planning Engineer to join our Light Rail Team based in Birmingham team to play an integral role in the development of our delivery capability.You will be responsible for developing and maintaining robust control of the planning schedule. This includes providing active support the project and programme teams in all planning and reporting activities. This role would suit a collaborative individual with great leadership and communication skills who enjoys multi-tasking, loves a busy working environment and thrives under pressure.Key Responsibilities:Ensure that capital investment programme schedule information is accurate and timelyDevelop the scope and work breakdown structure for the delivery schedule, including the capture of key assumptionsDefine and control the schedule baseline for our capital delivery schedule and project, programme and portfolio levels, ensuring that they incorporate learning from previous projects and is realistic/achievableWork closely with the Project Controls Specialists to ensure that the schedule, budget and risk/contingency baselines are consistent and integratedManage the framework for maintaining the schedule interdependencies between projects, programmes and portfoliosMaintain the framework for forecasting critical resources – to enable the identification and mitigation of bottlenecksEstablish, maintain and continuously improve the framework for template schedules, schedule activity norms and standard workMake sure that schedule progress is regularly reviewed and reported, identifying risks, issues and opportunitiesProduce and continuously improve schedule management information as part of our monthly reporting cycleYou must have right to work in the UK.QualificationsExpert level knowledge of Primavera (P6) and MS ProjectA proficiency in Microsoft Office ApplicationsDegree educated ideallyNVQ level 3 or equivalent (A-level)Good level of technical understandingExcellent written and verbal skillsStrong planning and organising skills with demonstrated ability to manage in fine detailAbility to interface with all relevant levels of client organisationDevelopment, deployment and continuous improvement of planning processes, procedures and systems.You will have a a logical mindset and methodical approach.You will be a good all-round team player with the ability to work to tight deadlines.Excellent communication and organisational skillsDiversity & Inclusion:We are an Equal Opportunities employer and we strive to build a workforce that truly reflects the communities we represent.
