SYSTRA is seeking a Senior or Principal Engineer with experience in the Highways Sector to be part of our growing and vibrant team. The successful candidate will play an important role within the team to support with the delivery of projects safely, efficiently, and effectively.We are seeking an individual who has a sound technical background and shares our enthusiasm and determination to deliver successful projects. The candidate will form part of an existing team already delivering a varied programme of highway and transportation schemes for a wide range of public and private sector clients across both the local and strategic highway networks.Responsibilities will include managing and leading designs on small projects, whilst also inputting and assisting in delivery, budgets, resourcing, planning, and programming on other projects with the senior team. Along with the preparation of technical outputs, coordinating with other disciplines and representing the business internally and externally.Missions/Main DutiesResponsible for the technical and project management control of the civil engineering aspects of small to medium projects.Delegate and direct Engineers and Technicians involved on projects.Develop and supervise junior Engineers in the team.Responsible for all stages of highway designs (adoptable or non-adoptable) ensuring compliance with appropriate standards.Production and delivery of Technical packages and applications.Production of Auto-CAD and Civil 3D models and drawings.Liaising with project team to ensure designs are fully co-ordinated.Liaising with other construction professionals in the development of designs.Prepare and deliver technical outputs within the team.Preparation and pricing of scope/briefs, proposals, and deliverables for new projects.Demonstrate leadership qualities and be self-motivated.Identify, develop and maintain relationships with main client contacts.Take commercial responsibility for small/medium projects.Ensure successful project delivery to time, cost, quality and other contractual requirements.Profile/SkillsEssentialDemonstrated Civil Engineering experience within a consultancy environment.MEng/MSc or BEng in Civil Engineering, and ideally working toward their Professional Qualification.Good knowledge and experience of delivering highway & drainage design.Experience of highway technical design on major and minor projects.Good knowledge of standard engineering practices and a demonstrable understanding of Health and Safety.Must be IT literate with good knowledge of Auto-CAD/Civil3D and other civil engineering packages.Good understanding of financial and commercial aspects of projects.DesirableExperience of working with Public and Private sector.Adaptable, self-motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, and desire to self-progress.Flexibility, agility, and a willingness to learn new skills.Ability to mentor and supervise more junior colleagues.Ability to determine appropriate solution with innovation and value.Why SYSTRA?Our three core values: Excellence, Connected Teams and Bold Leadership are kept at the heart of everything we do.
