The Energy unit delivers services across hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks, providing integrated engineering and project management from concept to decommissioning or life extension. The team supports the energy transition globally. Role We – the Energy Unit, specifically the Nuclear, Defence and Civil division – are looking to recruit a Senior Principal Safety Case Engineer to join our team. The role covers areas including nuclear power generation, the naval nuclear programme and decommissioning. Safety Case Production (e.g., SJP, PCSR, PCmSR, PRS) Modification/Design Change Submissions (LC/AC 22) Decommissioning Functional Safety Assessment Regulatory Interface ALARP Assessment Safety & Risk Assessment Deterministic & Probabilistic Safety Assessment Nuclear Safety Legislation, Regulation and Policy Engineering Substantiation HAZOP and related studies (HAZAN, etc.) Criticality Nuclear Fire safety
Candidate Specification / Qualifications
Degree qualified in a Science, Technology or Engineering discipline Experience in the nuclear or defence industries (applications from other high-hazard industries considered) Chartered Engineer or working towards Ability to deliver nuclear safety deliverables and strategy on complex projects Willingness to mentor junior staff
