As a project engineer you are responsible for the technical and engineering aspects of projects assigned to you. You will be assigned a work schedule, deliverables and meet these based on the customers business requirements and deadlines.

Key Tasks

• Installing physical equipment such as switches, cabinets, access points
• Configuring network equipment
• Deploying/rebuilding/configuring end user equipment such as laptops/desktops
• Configuring and deploying cloud services such as Barracuda, M365, SentinelOne, RMM and other platform based software
• Applying best practice, auditing and making changes to live environments including but not limited to any line of business system such as AD, Intune, Exchange, SharePoint
• Configuring/deploying/installing other networking, security or IT hardware, software and systems.

Key Skills Required

• SAN, NAS and DAS storage systems
• Wireless network survey, design and deployment
• File share security and migration
• SonicWall/other NGFW firewalls content filtering, IPS, IDS, etc
• Ubiquiti switching and wireless
• CCTV and VOIP systems managing low latency networking and security
• HyperV management and deployment, standalone and clusters
• SQL server basic installation and knowledge
• VMware ESXi understanding of standalone and VCentre management and security
• System and network monitoring tools eg Nagios, PRTG, HTTP GET/POST, ping, snmp etc
• Web applications and web hosting systems WordPress, domain names, public DNS
